How Fast they grow

I can't believe tomorrow Josh will be 10 months. It feels just like yesterday we brought him home from hospital.

He is now racing around the house on all fours and also has learnt to go up and down stairs, so yes i am on my toes all the time.

We read alot to him and he is now nearly turning pages for us. He also likes to destroy newspapers, magazines actually anything paper. He also thinks paper is part of his staple diet so i spend quite a bit of time chasing him and taking paper out of his mouth.

He just loves bath time and even helps us take his clothes off. He lifts his legs for his pants to come down and then each foot for his socks. He also lifts his hands above his head to take tops off and then sits down for nappy to come off. Way too smart our little man.....

He is now weighing as of 2 weeks ago 11.65kg so at a nice weight for his height. Above average in height, about 78cm now.

Josh eats well, pretty much what ever we give him he eats. Has started eating bananas, raisins, all fruit and veg, yogurt, scrambled eggs, cheese, toast. Actually he is a great eater.

As for sleep though, we are still battling here. He just does not want to sleep. We thought we had sorted it but again now he is up until midnight and awake again at 6ish. Makes it quite draining for me. Del has been great at night helping me settle him but doesn't seem to hear him early morning so no point both of us being awake. Hopefully one day this gets sorted as more than 5 or 6 hours sleep would be nice.

Last night he had Del and i in fits of laughter as he was going around and head butting everything from the floor to us. Not sure why but very funny.

As he now has 6 teeth he seems to think he can use them as a weapon and bites us all the time.

Well for now that is my little man's update. He is crying and ready for a bottle so must go...

Cheers

Joshua V Daddy

Hi All,

Del and i had rather a hard night last night. Josh has been waking up the past week every few hours, crying feeding and going back to sleep (although we think it is mainly for attention) so we decided to start the control crying thing again. So to bed he went about 9.30ish all was going well. Del and i also decided to have an early night so by about 10.30pm we also were in bed.
Now not even 10 mins later it started, we lay there for about 15 mins but then decided enough was enough and Del braved the little monster and attempted to get hi to sleep. Now it was not that easy and it ended up taking about 40 minutes for him to finally get back to sleep (i tried to help but I'm just a milk machine for him)

All the crying must of tired him out a bit as he did not wake up again until 5.30am. This time i tried, had to end up picking him up as he needed his nappy changed so i broke and fed him. He then fell asleep so i thought all was good but no sooner had i put him down in his cot and he started screaming. I tried for about 10 minutes to calm him but no good and in came Del to the rescue. It took him a further 20 mins and asleep he went again.

So approx 8am was the next wake up and up we got. So night one was hard on us all but lets hope this is the start of him sleeping through. Will keep you up dated.

Cheers

Backwards down the stairs

For awhile now Josh has been climbing up stairs but not able to get back down again. A few days before leaving SA he managed to climb down Ouma's back stairs head first and escape to outside. I think he became so good as once he had climbed down there was a big pot of dirt that he liked to throw everywhere.

Today 13/02/2007 he finally worked out how to actually go down the stairs backwards making life easier and safer. He spent half the morning in the pub going from stair case to stair case and just practising go up and down. So cute. I have to now watch him more than ever.

More Teeth

Hi,

Whilst we were away on holidays in South Africa, Joshua got 4 more teeth. His eye teeth were first and then his two front ones. Looks so cute.

The first one came through on 26th Jan 2007 (Australia Day), then a few days later came the second one and then the two front ones came on 5th of Feb 2007.

For someone who was teething he was a great baby and hardly complained. A bit of capole and cal gel seemed to do the trick.

I am still breast feeding him twice a day although with all his teeth we may have to re valuate the situation as he is starting to bite a bit.

Josh's First Shoes - 26/12/2006

We went shopping the other day and bought Josh some shoes. We went to Clarks in Mothercare - Oxford Street and had his foot measured and fitted. They are called cruisers as he is in the standing up and crawling stage. He is wearing a size 4H and wider foot and he would actually be shoeless.....

I have tried in the past to get him to wear shoes but have had no luck but he seems to like these and wears them all the time, (even sleeps in them during his afternoon nap) although he occasionally tries to eat them!!

We have to go back in feb to have his foot re-measured and possibly the next stage in shoes.

Have fun

Crawling and Standing

Josh started of his crawling experience commando style. He would pull himself accross the floor all around the room with the odd roll.
He then on the 19/12/2006 started to crawl on all fours. He now crawls around everywhere. We have had to get a gate on the lounge room doorway to stop him from getting out and wandering off. He has also learnt to stand up. His favourite is to stand in his cot and scream for attention. He pulls himself up at the TV, couch, walls, chairs basically anywhere he can. He really loves to stand but only problem is he can't get back down. Once he learns to be a bit more stable on his legs i'm sure we will have an early walking baby on our hands.

Bye for now

Baby Scream

Finally made it to baby scream today and it really does live up to its name. We met Nickie and Eladie and Sonu and Simi out side the cinema at 3pm and then fought our way in through all the prams to our seats.

The cinema is has about 30 arm chair soft seats with stools and 15 soft seats. We watch Marie Antoinette. Was quite good but was hard to watch at times with babies crying everywhere.

Josh was quite good managed to get him to sleep for about half the movie. Over all it was good but only would go back if there was something I really wanted to see.

Good Night

Memorable moments w/ending 20/08/2006

Hey,

Well we have had a rather nice week this week. Not a lot new to report.

* Josh has been an angel at night. We changed his sleep bag and is now sleeping from 11pm ish to 7-8am. Nice hey. Thanks Al for the sleeping bag.

* He is eating a lot more so we are getting prepared to start weaning him. I know it's a little earlier than the 6 month recommendation but if your child ate as much as ours does you to would consider.

* Still swimming and loving it.

* Still talking loads.

* oh yeah a little disgusting but on Saturday he did the biggest poo nappy in the world. It took me 7 baby wipes to clean his bottom!!!!

Until next week, bye

Memorable moments w/ending 13/08/2006

This week has been rather rewarding for both Del and I with Joshua. He has started to really grow in his personality and spends most of his time trying to talk to us and laughs with or at us. It is so fab and brings a tear to the eye at times.

* We went to Richmond park on Sunday for a picnic. The weather was fab and Josh just loves being outside. He and i went in the car and daddy rode his bike and we met him there. The first picture was taken at the park.

* We went and looked at car seats for Joshua. He is growing so quickly and will soon be out of his. The second picture is him a sleep in the car on the way to the shops.

* Twice this week we have given him a bottle and both times he has held onto it himself. He is only 15 weeks!!

* I bought him a teether as I think his teeth are on the way. He like to chew it if we are holding it otherwise tends to spit it out. It is one in the form of a dummy. Renee my brothers girlfriend told me about them and they are just fab.

* Learnt a little trick this week. Use olive oil on your babies head to help with cradle cap. We have been doing it and it really works. Put a little on at night after bath and then wash his head in the morning. Highly recommend.

* Joshua has started to put everything in his mouth. We must be very careful and watch him closely.

He is a real little man and makes life so rewarding.

Take care,
Deb xo

Memorable moments w/ending 06/08/2006

Hi there,

Josh has been a total angel by day and little troll by night(a loveable troll of course) He has this thing at the moment about his own bed. I spent one night walking the floor till 4am and had to get up the next day at 8am! He has had two other nights up till 1-2am. Not sure what is wrong.

* Looks like he has started to teeth, he is chewing everything and drooling loads. He also loves to suck on our hands and our necks!!!

* Another week swimming and again he is doing great. We start the next level this Thursday.

* Had him on his tummy on the bar and he did a complete 360 turn around. So funny and cute.

* He is nearly sitting alone. Can do it for a few seconds and then he falls back or to the side. Amazing how strong he is.

* Still rolling over from tummy to back and vise vesa. We must really watch him.

* He has been such a happy chap and now makes this strange noise when he laughs(a bit like a dolphin) so cute.

As always could go on forever,

Love to all
Deb and Del

Memorable moments w/ending 30/07/2006

A bit late this week with this but better late than never....

* Started baby yoga and he just loves it. We practice at home and he just laughs so much. Will get some video for you all.

* Has been rather sooky this week, crying a lot, but we think it is the weather as it has been averaging 30 degrees the past weeks.

* Had his second injections, and yes as you can imagine did not enjoy to much but was ok after the event.

* We took Josh swimming but the small pool was closed so he had to go in the big one with us. He is still loving his lessons and just loves the water.

* He is now rolling from his back to tummy and the other way, so all eyes are always watching, we don't want anymore rolls off the couch.

* We made plaster casts of Joshua's feet. We thought it would be simple but not so. The instructions say use warm water, tip of the week don't! First attempt no good, second attempt not great but with some tape we made work and finished product not bad.

So yes again we have had a busy week.....

Memorable moments w/ending 23/07/2006

Hey another fun filled week in the life of Joshua......

* He has the most incredible stomach muscles and is always pulling himself up. (with our help of course)

* The other day he was sitting on my knee just staring at me. It felt so wonderful

* He has started to look at my boobs when he wants food (pretty much all the time!) and Del is trying to teach him to say boobie! as his first word...

* On Weds Josh took a small dive of the couch onto the floor. He was asleep and managed to roll totally off the couch. He landed on his back but no damage done luckily. Needless to say he does not lye on the couch any more.

* First holiday to Norway. We went on a 3 day cruise, stopping in Bergen for a few hours and seeing the beautiful sights along the Norwegian coast and the Fjords.

* When arriving back into London the immigration people said Joshua should have a visa in his passport and it took then 20 minutes to decide to let him in the country. How stupid is that he is a 3 month old baby!!!! Now we have to get a visa for him to be able to travel again.

* Had his first shower with me on the boat and the second day he had a bath in the basin.

* He weighed 8.42kg this week.

* Had his usual swimming lesson and is doing really well. Even floated on his back with me just supporting his head.

For now, have a great day....

Memorable moments

Well what a busy boy Joshua has been.

* Went to d-cup cafe and played with the other babies. He is the biggest baby and nearly the youngest.

* Met his aunty Rosie from Italy. She came to visit and gave him a cute little suit.

* He weighed 8.04kg this week. Getting bigger everyday

* Went to Brighton for the day and he would not sleep that night we had to put him in our bed.

* Joshua is becoming a poo machine. Nearly everything he wears he poo's. Maybe Del and I need more nappy changing lessons.

* He sat alone for 2 secs in the bath.

* Has been putting his dummy back in his mouth himself

* Played with Pam and Dave on their one day stop over

* Bought him a tummy time mat which he loves playing on. He even rolled from tummy to back on it yesterday.

* Thumb sucking, yes he has learnt where his thumb is and often uses it more than his dummy now.

This weeks Memorable Moments

Well this week saw the below memorable moments:

* All week he has been trying to sit up on his own. He will be lying down and tries so hard to pull himself up. He actually managed to do it once. Scary the next thing I know he will be crawling.

* clinic with Joshua weighing a whopping 17 pounds 4 oz. Although big he is perfect weight for his birth size so that's great.

* We were sitting around after weighing chatting and Josh let out the biggest fart which followed through with a very loud poo. He had all the mums in stitches of laughter.

* He is starting to learn to copy us. Our favorite so far is when we stick our tongues out at him he does the same back. Ever so cute.

* He started to swim this week and just loves it. We definitely have a water baby on our hands.

* Pulling my hair seems to be another favorite of Josh's. He actually has a very strong grip so it can be a tad painful at times.

* He is also babbering quite a lot like he is trying to talk to us. Del is trying to teach him to say boobie!!

* Sleep routine is my biggest achievement this week and now are managing to get him to bed at about 9.30pm for a few hours, wake him at midnight for a feed and then back to sleep until around 7am. I am so lost though with out him but it is nice for Del and I to get some time together.

Well as you can see he is growing and learning new things all the time. I look forward to another fun filled week.

Until next Monday, stay safe and enjoy the heat wave.

It's a boy!!!

What can I say! We're ecstatic! Well, I am anyway, Deb is just tired!

Baby Joshua was born this morning at 10.51am. He weighed in at a massive 5.08kg (11lbs 4 ounces), has a full head of hair and big, wrinkly feet!

He was born by C-section after they discovered that he was breached.

He took to his mum's breast straight away too! Definitely a rugby player of the future!

Oh yes, he doesn't fit into his 0 to 3 month old baby clothes.

Thanks to all the well-wishers and all the staff at St. Mary's Hospital who took such great care of all 3 of us!

More pics to follow.

First Movement

Oh agh felt the baby kick today, was busy serving a pint and there it was the first kick, very cool.

All is going really well still, although I am getting very tired easy and poor Del has had to put up with a few mood swings but besides that all good.

Baby continues to get spoilt and not even born yet. Must be a girl though as I noticed a Christmas prezzie from bump under the tree. Already knows how to shop!!

Thanks to everyone who has bought stuff and we will be sure to take pics and send to you.

For now its off to bed for mum and bump.

Until the next time good night and sweet dreams
xo
