Memorable moments w/ending 23/07/2006

Hey another fun filled week in the life of Joshua......

* He has the most incredible stomach muscles and is always pulling himself up. (with our help of course)

* The other day he was sitting on my knee just staring at me. It felt so wonderful

* He has started to look at my boobs when he wants food (pretty much all the time!) and Del is trying to teach him to say boobie! as his first word...

* On Weds Josh took a small dive of the couch onto the floor. He was asleep and managed to roll totally off the couch. He landed on his back but no damage done luckily. Needless to say he does not lye on the couch any more.

* First holiday to Norway. We went on a 3 day cruise, stopping in Bergen for a few hours and seeing the beautiful sights along the Norwegian coast and the Fjords.

* When arriving back into London the immigration people said Joshua should have a visa in his passport and it took then 20 minutes to decide to let him in the country. How stupid is that he is a 3 month old baby!!!! Now we have to get a visa for him to be able to travel again.

* Had his first shower with me on the boat and the second day he had a bath in the basin.

* He weighed 8.42kg this week.

* Had his usual swimming lesson and is doing really well. Even floated on his back with me just supporting his head.

For now, have a great day....

Memorable moments

Well what a busy boy Joshua has been.

* Went to d-cup cafe and played with the other babies. He is the biggest baby and nearly the youngest.

* Met his aunty Rosie from Italy. She came to visit and gave him a cute little suit.

* He weighed 8.04kg this week. Getting bigger everyday

* Went to Brighton for the day and he would not sleep that night we had to put him in our bed.

* Joshua is becoming a poo machine. Nearly everything he wears he poo's. Maybe Del and I need more nappy changing lessons.

* He sat alone for 2 secs in the bath.

* Has been putting his dummy back in his mouth himself

* Played with Pam and Dave on their one day stop over

* Bought him a tummy time mat which he loves playing on. He even rolled from tummy to back on it yesterday.

* Thumb sucking, yes he has learnt where his thumb is and often uses it more than his dummy now.

This weeks Memorable Moments

Well this week saw the below memorable moments:

* All week he has been trying to sit up on his own. He will be lying down and tries so hard to pull himself up. He actually managed to do it once. Scary the next thing I know he will be crawling.

* clinic with Joshua weighing a whopping 17 pounds 4 oz. Although big he is perfect weight for his birth size so that's great.

* We were sitting around after weighing chatting and Josh let out the biggest fart which followed through with a very loud poo. He had all the mums in stitches of laughter.

* He is starting to learn to copy us. Our favorite so far is when we stick our tongues out at him he does the same back. Ever so cute.

* He started to swim this week and just loves it. We definitely have a water baby on our hands.

* Pulling my hair seems to be another favorite of Josh's. He actually has a very strong grip so it can be a tad painful at times.

* He is also babbering quite a lot like he is trying to talk to us. Del is trying to teach him to say boobie!!

* Sleep routine is my biggest achievement this week and now are managing to get him to bed at about 9.30pm for a few hours, wake him at midnight for a feed and then back to sleep until around 7am. I am so lost though with out him but it is nice for Del and I to get some time together.

Well as you can see he is growing and learning new things all the time. I look forward to another fun filled week.

Swimming Lessons

Today we had Joshua's first swimming lesson. We got to the pool for a 9.30 start and the lesson went for 30 mins. We started with some crouched crab lunges in a circle while cuddling Josh, then moved onto some paddling around. We then started getting Josh ready for the big submerge with some water on the face and some side to side swishers through the water. A lot of this was repeated and just towards the end of the lesson our instructor put him under the water. He totally loved every minute of the day. He even fell a sleep in my arms while we were doing our cool down crab lunges. (very funny)

Well I had been a little scared this week about the whole thing but really keen for him to go and now I think it is fab and highly recommend it to every mum and baby. Our lessons at this level go for another 4 weeks and then we can move up a level. It is £50 for the 5 weeks but well worth every penny.

Until next lesson, good night, take care

1st 2 months memorable moments

Well I thought I would start up a weekly memorable moments of things that Josh does or experiences we share with him. So to get us up to date I will do the first 2 months and then every Monday will update with the weeks. So hear goes.

* The birth of Joshua - 26/04/2006
* The first cuddle with him - 26/04/2006
* There are to many from the birth to write so this one is everything about his birth and first few days.

* First Bath at home (I think I bathed more than him) - 02/05/2006
* First time we took him for a walk in his pusher (to the post office so Del could do his banking) - 02/05/2006
* First sleep through the night - 09/05/2006
* Sucks his thumb for the first time (he sucks it upside down looks so cute) - 20/05/2006
* Wears his first pair of shoes (we bought them in France earlier this year, little blue converse) - 28/05/2006
* First trip away from home ( went to watch daddy in his mountain bike riding weekend and stayed in Oxford for a night and at Darrells grans for a night) - 26th-28th/05/2006
* Follows something with his eyes - 03/06/2006
* His first smile ( although he has been nearly smiling since about 4 weeks) - 05/06/2006
* His first real laugh ( Now laughs all the time, he is so cute) - 10/06/2006
* First time splashes in the bath ( yep he now loves to share his baths with me) - 18/06/2006
* 1st injections (not loved very much) - 27/06/2006
* 1st time he reaches for a toy (tried to grab his bear from cot mobile) - 02/07/2006

You know everyday with Josh is memorable for me but they are just some of the bigger things. I'm sure I could fill pages and pages for you. I love our little boy so much and he brings both me and Del so much happiness. We are very lucky to be blessed with such a great baby.

Until next Monday, stay safe and enjoy the heat wave.

D - Cup Cafe

Went to this little cafe today (D-Cup Cafe)that my health visitor recommended. It is a place for mums and baby's to go and meet up for a coffee and a chat. Very relaxed atmosphere and the babies can play with each other. They also have midwives and health professionals who you can chat to about breast feeding, sleeping, eating etc etc.

I have been meaning to go for ages but have been a little scared to go but very glad I finally did. Met some really nice mums and cool to chat about Josh and their babies in a relaxed environment. Also bought a breast pump (electric).

One of the midwives did a small talk on baby routines which is something we are trying to get Josh into but have not fully done. The information she gave was great and has given me a few ideas to try at home. Looking forward to next Monday.

Next thing for me to try is SCREAM! Movies for mums and babies. Maybe next week.

Cheers

First Swim

Hey,

Wow what a beautiful weekend it has been. 30 degrees yesterday and 32 today. Today is really hot and Josh is a bit stroppy but on the up side he slept from 2am last night till 9am. I actually woke him at 9, gave him a quick feed, put on his swimmers (swimming nappy) and of we went to the pool. Unfortunately the kiddies pool was closed so we had to go in the big pool. At first he cried a little but we think it was because the water was to cold and then after awhile he really loved it. Looks like he is going to enjoy his swimming lessons that start this Thursday.

Josh is now passed out on my knee. Fingers crossed for another long sleep.
