1st immunisations

Hey,

Today we went for our usual weigh in but this time with a small difference. Josh was to have his first jab's. We weighed him first and again he had great weight gain 7.50kg which is 16 pound 5 oz. Then of we went with Lynn our Health visitor (fellow aussie and due with her first baby in 4 weeks) to have his jabs. We sat down and I held him in a cuddle position and in the first one went and out came the scream. I kissed him and talked to him but right now noting was going to stop him so we decided to turn him around and do the second jab again in with the jab and the screams got louder. At least now it was all over and we went outside and after about 5 mins I managed to calm him down. We sat for about 5 mins and then of we went and all was ok. Now I have 4 weeks to wait until he has the next ones.

Stay tuned

A week in the life of Joshua

It's been a quite week this week and we have not really done a lot. I had Josh weighed on Tuesday and he is now 7.14kg so getting rather big. He is actually now quite heavy to hold for long periods of time.

Thursday we went to Hammersmith and bought him a few more tops and a casting kit to make casts of his feet. Looking forward to doing that.

We also enrolled in swimming lessons which will start on the 6th July so will keep you posted on how that goes. If your looking for somewhere to go with a baby see the below link. We bought him a cute little towel for his lessons and now just need to find aqua nappies and he'll be all ready for classes.

I also registered to be a "yummy mummy" and help raise money for kids with cancer. Think it's a great cause and if you would like to donate of just have a look at what they do see the below link.

Josh has also been a little bit stroppy this week as he has had a blocked nose and found it hard to breath. Finally yesterday morning he snotted it all out and is much better now.

We bought Josh a mobile and dream show which he loves. He is fascinated by them and like to kick his mobile. I must say the music is already driving us crazy but it keeps him amused for a while and that's it's main purpose.

We have made a little play area in the lounge room for Josh so he can play with some toys and we give him some tummy time. He seems to like being on his tummy but just for a short while.

Hopefully over the next weeks we will get him into a semi routine. Don't want to be by the clock as our lives are not even in a routine. We have started having regular time baths and a massage, and soon to introduce a story and may even start sleeping him in his own room.

Well that's all for now, have a great weekend

Bath Time

One of Joshua's favorite times. At first he hated having a bath and screamed the flat down but after a few goes we got it right and now he does not want to come out.

As he is growing so fast he has nearly out grown his first bath and looks like soon it will be baths with mum or dad! That should be fun.

Well of for another bath,

The story so far - part 1 hospital

So many things to write about since the birth of Joshua, and I want to keep up with it so he can look back and remember the early days so I will attempt to write every day or two but for now here is the story so far!

So after a crazy birth, I ended up having to spend a week in hospital, due to my blood pressure being so high and the fact that I had just had an emergency c-section and lost 2 liters of blood.

I spent the first 24 hours in a recovery ward with 6 drips in my hands. It made it so very hard to feed my baby boy but we managed. I had my folks and brother Brad come visit and Del was with me as long as he was aloud.

I fell in love with Joshua from the time I first laid eyes on him. He was just so perfect and when they gave him to me for that first cuddle I could not help but cry. Actually I couldn't get over how big his feet were.

My first night with Joshua was quite hard as I could hardly move and Josh cried so much. It was all new to both of us. As I could hardly move each time I wanted to pick him up I had to call the midwife.

After about 3 days I was keen to get home but due to y high blood pressure I was not aloud to and each day I was hopeful of going home and then when I was told not today I became very emotional but they were only looking after my best interests.

I was quite saw and found it hard to move around. I just took each day as it came and got a bit stronger every day. I had my stitches taken out after day 5 and have a great cut. The surgeon did a great job.

Each day while we were in hospital Del would come in and visit us for as long as he could but he was also working. I could not wait to see him each day. I also had my mum and dad in every day so that was also great. Darrell, Des, James, Shell, Rob, Valter and Rita and my brother also came to visit.

The day they told me I could go home I could not have been happier. I packed up and had to wait around for the doctor to come and sign me out and give me my medication. So at about 3pm on Monday 1st May we took Joshua out in to the big wide world, jumped in a black cab and home we went.

More to follow.....Deb xo

Shopping Time

Took Joshua shopping yesterday for clothes as he is growing up so fast. He is now already growing out of 0-3 months and wearing 3-6. I also bought him some sandal's they are so cute but size 9-12 months. His feet are big!!! Looks like we have a rugby player on our hands.

Shopping yesterday must have worn him out as he slept through the night for us I actually woke him at 8am for a feed and to meet his great uncle and Aunty who just arrived from Oz. It was really great to see them and Aunty Pam is just fab with Josh. We took them for a drive and showed them a few places and then did some shopping and had a braai/BBQ.

Also had Josh weighed today and he was a 6.96kg which is 15 pound 5 oz. So yes he is a big boy, still gaining around a pound a week. He has a small heat rash as the weather has been really warm and knocked him around a bit but the last two nights he seems to be a bit better.

Anyway tomorrow we are going to central London,

Baby clinic

Hi,

So every Tuesday we take Joshua to baby clinic. It's a chance for him to be weighed and for us to talk to the health visitor if we have any problems or questions and to make sure Josh is doing well.

His weight is definetly not a problem. He was born 5.08kg and 6 weeks later is now 6.58kg. He is putting on a healthy amount of weight and looks as cute as ever.

In two weeks time he has to have his first lot of injections so that should be fun!!
