Week 17

Fetal Development - Week 17

Your baby is now about the size of an avocado (about 5 inches / 12.7 centimetres long from crown to rump and weighing approximately 6 ounces / 170 grams). In the next three weeks he'll go through a tremendous growth spurt, doubling his weight and adding inches to his length.

In or out of the womb, babies are playful creatures. Yours may already have discovered his first toy — the umbilical cord — which he'll enjoy pulling and grabbing. Sometimes he may even clutch it so tight that less oxygen gets through, but don't worry — he doesn't hold onto it long enough to harm himself. The circulatory system and urinary tract are in full working order, and he's inhaling and exhaling amniotic fluid through his lungs.

All about me..

All is coming along nicely. I must be one of the lucky ones; no sickness at all. I am starting to get quite tired especially after being on my feet all day at work.

Have started to read a few books and have come across some interesting information. Well to us anyway. Did you know that only 4% of babies are born on there due dates and 75% are born within 10 days? Lets hope it is close to the date!!! Maybe Del can start a what date will the baby be born question!!!!

I am starting to eat well again and all those yummy things are no longer in the diet.

We have painted the room for the baby and now just need to clean carpets and remove all the storage stuff and then we will have a nursery. I must admit I have been very good lately as I am so tempted to buy things but have been resisting.

We did however buy a baby monitor at the baby show which is very cool. You can hear bub's heart beat and also can talk and play music to her. It's amazing.

Well that's all for now. Off to the doctors on Tuesday and Friday next week so till then, be happy and safe.

The baby show

Deb dragged me to a baby show about 2 weeks ago. I thought that I would hate it, but...

To be honest, I didn't even get bored! We spent 4 hours browsing. I think I've seen enough baby prams to last me a life time. We even ended up buying one! We'll put a pic of it on the blog once we unpack it! :-)

Next week Deb has another doctors appointment to pick up the results of her blood tests.

Other than that, all is well. She is starting to show a little, but nothing serious.

Anyway, I'll let her tell you how she feels.
